Jacob + Julie

Jacob and Julie’s wedding. This wedding was so fun to photograph! It was my first City Hall Wedding, and was amazing. Portland, Maine City Hall is an old historic building located right in the heart of downtown; off the cobble stone streets of the Old Port. I wanted to really capture the esthetic of the building while also capturing the two love birds. It was a cooler early spring day with lots of sunshine, which made for some harsh lighting outside but some really beautiful ones none the less.  This wedding was unique because it only included a few people, it was in a very public space, and my coverage was short and sweet. I wanted to share this with you because it is another example of a small wedding, but is a different approach to my style of shooting. Jacob and Julie asked for very little in the way of final edits, the goal being just to capture this small elopement for future memories.  I focused a lot on creating the images into black and white captures because of the environment in which they were married- it gave that more timeless look to such an architectural/city scape location.
